Full bodied, spicy and very intense, this single malt is traditionally one of the boldest from Speyside. Its richness lends itself particularly well to maturation in sherry casks, so we opted for a particularly long finish to give it the style we were looking for: over 7 years in a first fill Oloroso butt! Its winey, fruity character is immediately obvious: darkly nutty and astringent at the nose, it exhibits a very classic dry sherry profile. At the palate it’s even drier and nuttier, peppery and spicy, with the typical distillery style: malty, chewy, with a meaty, toasted and organic hint, even a suggestion of leather. Medicinal herbs and liquorice shine through, but the winey influence, with notes of sour red cherries, allows it to remain fresh and lively.
