On the nose, fruity aromas of roasted orange, blueberry, blackcurrant and slightly tart plum intermingle with subtle nutty notes and a delicate smokiness reminiscent of a campfire. On the palate, sweetness and spice combine harmoniously with grape, berry and plum flavors, followed by toasty nuances on the mid-palate. The finish lingers with moderate sweetness and delicate smoke, leaving a memorable imprint that calls for further tasting.
This whisky is created exclusively from the distillery's own whiskies. It combines a whisky distilled in 2019 and aged in Oloroso sherry with whiskies aged in ex-Koval casks, Islay Quarter casks and Bourbon Quarter casks. The blend draws on the experience and technique acquired during the development of the Amahagan world malt series. The rich, smooth malt of the sherry cask blends perfectly with the other casks, bringing smoky, elegant and delicately perfumed notes to the finish for a smooth, flavorful experience.
The Nagahama distillery began operations in 2016 as part of a commemorative project for the 20th anniversary of the Roman Beer brewery founded in 1996. Following the 2022 release of its first single malt, the small Nagahama team unveils a second, more mature and complex edition, bottled in 13,000 copies-a very honorable quantity for Japan's smallest distillery.
